Bring Me The Horizon – Issue 2
Bring Me The Horizon have just played to a full house in the Bournemouth International Centre, on the final leg of the UK tour as main support to Lostprophets, and gone down surprisingly well. After the show we’re ushered into a rather spacious dressing room backstage where a multitude of people are hanging out, including Sean Smith from the Blackout and BMTH friends and crew. With band members constantly coming and going, and whilst Curtis (Ward, guitar) plays with my camera, there’s some discussion about just who is going to do the interview with us, and finally vocalist Oli Sykes is persuaded to sit still long enough to have a chat. Whilst we’re sitting comfortably on chairs he and Curtis lounge on the floor in front of us, twiddling with plastic glasses and being in an obvious playful mood.
Rise to Addiction – Issue 1
So its an august night and it’s a warm one, I’m walking through the centre of Bradford to meet up with a band that I’ve heard so much about and yet still they aren’t in everyone’s CD collection. This band of course is Rise To Addiction and they’re out for a few dates after spending all summer recording their new album. Having been to this venue before it brought it all back when I walked in to the backstage area I knew this was where all rock and roll interviews should happen, dirty, graffiti walled rooms just like this.
Saosin Interview – Issue 1
The job of writing and interviewing bands is a dream job and as part of Rock Industry Magazines vision we like to include the details of our writers and how the interview came about or the weird circumstances in which it took place. Saosin’s interview was one of those weird experiences as they were in Australia when I caught up with them. They were just relaxing before their nights performance in Perth. I caught up with them at 3pm oz time……..7am UK time. I was on the phone with Cove Reber for the interview. They have a great system where I got to speak to a well spoken gent from EMI first who told me we had an amount of time and kept interrupting to give me a time check all the way through! Here is the main meat of the interview.
Bullets and Octane Interview – Issue 1
Well, here I am walking towards Bradford’s top music venue, Rio’s to interview Gene Louis From Bullets and Octane. With a reputation of drinking, fast riffs and even faster women the band have certainly made a name for themselves, sometimes to the critics dislike but certainly to the bands increase in profile. I arrive and speak to Ben their manager and next thing I’m upstairs on pink-purple sofas taking to one of the most charismatic looking rockers of the new breed, Gene. So what would any good host do? Offer a beer of course! We sit down and get straight to the interview with beer in hand.
