Hatebreed Live At The Camden Underworld Review
December 1, 2014 | By: Leeann Dare
Hatebreed can only be described as one of the best bands of our day and the boys were out in force celebrating two enormous decades together, with this in mind I had nothing but high expectations for this sold out event which took place at the Camden Underworld. With a rather small venue playing host to such a colossal band the atmosphere was excitedly roused as the enthusiastic crowd frantically anticipated the arrival of the band.
This was most certainly a 20th Anniversary show I was ecstatic to be a part of. Hatebreed made a briefly entertaining entrance before swiftly dropping into the deep heavy sound they are known for. Playing a mix of new material alongside classics such as the complete ‘Under The Knife’ EP, ‘I will be Heard’ and ‘Destroy Everything’ the variety in songs chosen gave a wide representation of music from different stages in the band’s twenty year history. Fans were shoulder to shoulder…. or shoulder to shoe in some cases as everybody wanted to witness Front man Jamey Jasta alongside the rest of the boys tear the Underworld apart . True to form Hatebreed fans were not shy to enter the pit to which several bloody faces could be seen emerging throughout the evening. Despite the inevitable sweat and beer penetrated attire to be expected when frequenting a Hatebreed gig the advantage to this rather modest sized venue was that the sound could be heard clearly from any point within. With so many super fans desperate to see (or mosh) getting a good view of the group was challenging however the intoxicating atmosphere and supreme sound made this a minor issue as the addictive force that drives Hatebreed leaves you with no more than a burning desire to get involved.
This was a truly unique performance from Hatebreed which gave fans songs from all the prodigious music created over their time together so far. I myself have a continuing love and respect for Hatebreed so feel privileged to have been a part of their epic Underworld Anniversary show….
