Everybody Wants To Be Poppy is without a doubt the most catchy song of the year so far and had me hooked from the very first listen. This exceptionally talented and unconventional singer/songwriter from Nashville signed with Island Records and is about to erupt upon fans with this memorable and addictive song. That Poppy tends to demonstrate reggae-inspired beats combined with punk rock riffs and a pop undertone within her music, this giving her a unique sound that breath’s new life into the pop punk genre. That Poppy received thousands of followers/views on YouTube for video’s covering songs such as Mac Demarco ‘My Kind Of Woman’ or video’s on the more eccentric side, an example of this would be her repeating her name for ten minutes! Needless to say this girl is gaining our attention, in particular with her distinctive new single ‘Everybody Wants To Be Poppy’ recently released on iTunes. That Poppy grew up enveloped by music with her Father a drummer in a punk band and her brother drumming for several bands at one time however it seemed That Poppy’s passion lay in dance. It was not until middle school inspired by bands such as ‘No Doubt’ and ‘Blondie’ that she fell in love with singing and began writing, her songs drawing inspiration from the things going on in her life and the people close to her.

‘Everybody Wants To Be Poppy’ is a fast paced song exhibiting her vocal talent and playful side. Her self proclaimed theme song most certainly displays the quirky outgoing side of That Poppy and her infectiously bubbly nature transcends into her music instantly lightening your mood. ‘Everybody Wants To Be Poppy’s lyrics demonstrate depth with a witty touch which I feel goes hand in hand with her very pretty yet individualistic punk look. ‘Everybody Wants To Be Poppy’ is a great listen and a must buy in my opinion. I most definitely can not wait to see what is next in store from this awesome new talent……
