After two huge years of anticipation for the return of Boomtown fair I take immense pleasure in being able to write this pre event piece! Boomtown is set to take place bigger and better than ever before from the 10th – 14th August 2022 in Winchester. With amazing artists, Boomtown’s renowned immersive districts, Actors, entertainment, food and eclectic genre’s all fans of this outstanding festival have an amazing time to come and some exciting new changes. With ticket resale set to hit 7pm Wednesday 9th March this will be the last chance to grab your ticket as 98% have already been sold! Although the last two years through the Covid 19 pandemic has been more than challenging to say the least it has given Boomtown the chance to pause and decide in which direction to go. With the creation of ‘Chapter One: The Gathering’ some momentous and decisive changes have taken place meaning a complete redesign and new storyline giving a completely evolved feel and look to this outstanding festival which will take the experience to new engaging heights.

One exceptionally exciting element for me is that this year the creative and independent festival has chosen to hold back on the release of the line up which will happen a few days before the start of the event. This profound change is allowing Boomtown to be free from the restraints caused by traditional line up announcements in so paving the way for the delivery of a tangible diverse program. Any fans of this unique festival know that Boomtown is not just another festival but a truly immersive experience never failing to book incredible artists . With a bill of live bands, DJ’s and more both renown and underground covering a full genre spectrum of music from alternative and drum and bass to hardcore and house there are sound’s to suit everyone. With this bold move of not releasing a line up and being tied into billing restrictions etc it will pave the way for the best music to be found at any festival this year allowing for the creation of a phenomenal line-up not seen before.

I absolutely adore the fictitious city that is Boomtown. Consisting of nine different districts all designed with it’s own theme and a multiverse of micro venues within each this five day event combing immersive theatre, art and outstanding set design is bound to leave you counting down the days for the next year’s festival so you can do it all again. Covering this event on behalf of Rock Industry Magazine I will take you through this magical world brought to life by hundreds of actors and performers in a place created to draw you into another dimension with hidden passageways, venues and doorways waiting to be explored. For all of those that love Boomtown original features there are parts that will remain the same with the re-introduction of old favourites where as others will Transend such as the ‘main City’ previously known as ‘Downtown Boomtown’ or the many dancefloors throughout the forest that will be tucked away in the stunning South Downs National Park. For the first time ever the amphitheatre at Matterley Estate will be opened and used to create the most detailed pop up city ever to be seen at a Festival.

The theme this year is that of a post pandemic world where the state of emergency has become a city that has risen from the ashes of the old. A new world with a story that focuses on reflection, acceptance, respect and reconnection not only to ones own self but each other and the planet as a whole. It is giving a powerful message of coming together and rebuilding as one to make a better world. I find this amazing as incorporating the darker days of the past into the current storyline will give a genuine and deep connection to the event allowing us to think about all that has happened over the past two years and what we can all do to make positive changes towards a brighter future. It is truly inspiring. If you do not already hold a ticket as many have tickets rolled over from the last two years I would say register for a ticket now via the link found on the Boomtown website. This is certainly one event not to be missed and is definitely set to be the best Festival held in 2022. Follow me in the lead up to this breathtakingly astounding event for any pre event updates followed by a full review of the whole amazing Festival once it takes place with Rock Industry Magazine…….
