‘IF I HAD A PENNY TO MY NAME’ FEAT SEAN SMITH OUT 19th MARCH 2012
Since breaking onto the live scene in early 2011, Proxies have already got a wonderful fan base which is rapidly growing. They never seem to fail when it comes to giving an amazing performance at their live shows and have proved to be a band that is out to conquer. They formed whilst at college and since then, things have gone into overdrive for these four friends. They have already had the chance to support the likes of Kids in Glass Houses, Hadouken, Canterbury and even Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump.
Proxies’ musical influences are clear to hear when giving their best known song ‘If I Had a penny To My Name’ a listen, and to help them make their debut, Sean Smith from The Blackout joins them on the track. Fusing rock with huge electro beats, which makes for an explosive combination, shows that they are no strangers to experimenting. Jordan claimed “from early on we’ve been called everything from ‘an electronica act caught in bed with a rock band’ and even labelled ‘Pendulum! at the Disco’, but mostly I think it is rock music that utilises all the tools available to us as musicians”.
When deciding to record their debut single ‘If I had a Penny To My Name’, there was only one person that the band would trust to produce it … Gareth McGrillen. His experience in the rock-electronica arena layered over the band’s already “ballsy” songs, providing a statement of what Proxies stand for, and what they’re going to bring forth in the very near future and the future seems to be exciting.
Proxies have just announced main support for Hadouken & their own headline show 1st May.
