The countdown has begun to my favourite festival of the year, none other than one of a kind Bestival held in the Isle of White.  Bestival has certainly stood apart for me from other festivals over the years with consistency in having an awesome and unique line up, excellent atmosphere and entertainment, a vast array of refreshment and food to choose from over the weekend and different and fun stage/venue themes.  This year it seems Bestival will surpass itself with even more to see and do, including  acts on The Spaceport stage – A brand new stage featuring a large Rocket towering more than 20 metres high at it’s centre and a unique step in the advancement of vision and sound.  The Spaceport features a state of the art db audio array processing sound system and topped off with laser loaded lighting design from Lite -Alt Designs.  The Spaceport will be accompanied by many other amazing stages and venues over the weekend such as The Main stage, The Big Top, The Bollywood Tent, Invaders of the Future, Temple Island, The Amphitheatre and the Bestival Inflatable Church to name but a few.

This year I am particularly looking forward to seeing:

The World’s Biggest Bouncy Castle –   Surely the most fun to have been had at a festival before and standing at an impressive 12.8 Metres tall and filled with 1143 cubic metres of air and able to comfortably accommodate 100 festival goers at a time this massive Bouncy Castle taller than the Great Wall of China and three times the size of the Berlin Wall could see Bestival Festival heading for the Record books once again.  Reiterating the fact that Bestival is one of a kind and its not all about the music this is going to be one of the most fun things to do at the festival in my opinion.

Hot Tubs –  (Bathing under the sky) with sessions lasting up to two hours and a choice between VIP Hot Tub Bus or Standard Ticket which each include Luxury wood-fired hot tubs for up to six people, Dry Finnish Sauna with cold shower and hot showers with new shower trailers with extra showers for 2016.  I for one find this so appealing as when in camping conditions a little luxury is always welcome.

New Craft House – Returning for another year at Bestival Rosie and Hannah began the New Craft House three years ago and have been inspired by all things craft ever since.  Working mainly from their London studio alongside running workshops these girls have been very creative indeed and return to Bestival with their tie-dye workshops allowing festival goers to spend some time in the sun with the best views of the festival plus a bag/t-shirt etc to walk away with after personally decorating your item.

Circus Raj –  Consisting of a diverse and talented group of Rajasthan’s circus performers entertaining by combining their skills with musical support from famous Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band  performing acts of bravery and courage held dear over the centuries from the time of the Maharajas.  Expect to see a cast of illusionists, acrobats, aerialists, dancers and rope walkers using this old and magical circus regime to give a fast paced out of this world show with Drama, surprise and music.  I have not seen a show like this one at a festival before so will definitely make sure I do not miss the opportunity to see this awe inspiring act before they return to India.

Revolution Rides –  I am so excited to find this as I did not come across it last year so will most certainly be first in line to seek it out the secret club held in a blackbox room at the top of Slow Motion Hill! Revolution Rides is a ‘never been done before’ concept created especially for Bestival by Olympic sports coach Tim Weeks taking festival goers on a new inventive musical journey on bikes with a mix of music and exercise,  definitely time to go for a ride!

On top of the outstanding entertainment provided by Bestival over the weekend it is indeed a Music festival to which the line up is also equally enticing with the likes of Carl Cox, Diplo and Fatboy Slim bringing their exceptional sounds to the Spaceport Stage.  Music acts I am also not going to miss that weekend will include The Cure, Years and Years, Moose Blood, Milk Teeth, Pretty Vicious, The Wytches, PUP, Damian Marley and DJ Shy FX.  I love the fact that Bestival always has a diverse and exceptional line up with musical genre’s to include Prog Rock/Grunge, Indie, Punk and Dance etc making sure that whatever music you most appreciate there is never a dull moment and indeed something for everyone.

The named areas to look out for are Ambient Forest, Slow Motion,  Magic Meadow, Bollywood Field, Stardust Field, The Spaceport, Temple Island and Grassy Hill where you will be sure to find anything from Love-Bot, Mr Motivator, Morning Gloryfield, Sunday Night Spectacular, Night Parades, Day Parades and many other things.  Bestival had one of the best Festival atmospheres I have had the pleasure of experiencing first hand.  Everyone was exceptionally friendly with a tangible feeling of excitement and joy throughout the entirety of the weekend.  All Staff was also extremely friendly and efficient ensuring the Festival was very well organised, safe and accommodating for all.  If you happen to have little ones then never fear as Bestival has one of the most child friendly environment’s available in the form of The Bestival Kids Field run by the Big Top Mania Team with a full on play experience loaded with activities, entertainment, Crafts and Theatre shows.  Play time to include anything from an under 5s play area to crazy inflatable’s, Giant Bubbles or trying the trapeze.  If your little one is not up to play time then there are plenty of entertaining shows such as Bigtopmania Family Circus Show or Big Bears Balloon Disco to keep them happy over the course of the weekend.

Bestival Festival is my opinion the best festival of the year and firmly in my calendar!
